Linear Park is located alongside the National Convention Centre and the Royal Canal and is the major amenity in this part of Dublin.

The general external and Pathway Lighting supplied was with 61 x ’Shot’ Luminaires, 70w Metal Halide lamps and with ‘street optic’ Reflector system (to suit the pathways which surround the Canal and grass areas). A total of 23 x 8m lighting Columns were required to suit the single, twin and triple head arrangement. This newly refurbished area was opened in early 2012.

Recent extensions at 2 Dublin Hospitals used VeeLites low profile ‘StreetLed’ luminaires. These 90w LED Street lights on 5m Poles provide excellent light distribution to comply with road lighting standards with low glare and high efficiency. Light levels are approx 30 Lux average with 30% unformity.

The high quality white light colour emitted has significant advantages over traditional HPS street lighting as it enables clear ‘daylight type’ recognition of colours which helps to identify Pedestrians, objects, etc. LED lighting also minimises maintenance and relamping with its expected life of 60,000 hours average (or typically 16 years). This is double the life time of HPS and 3 or 4 times the lifetime of Metal Halide.

As an option, LED Street lighting can also be controlled by Occupancy Sensor to provide significant energy saving and switching off when it is not required. Frequent switching is not a problem with LED lighting but is not possible with traditional HPS or Metal Halide lighting.

VeeLite can compliment LED Street lighting with LED Carpark Luminaires, LED Groundlights and LED Bollard lighting.

These street lighting Luminaires combine attractive appearance with good functionality including efficiency, good photometric performance and optional technical features such as electronic gear or electronic internal mini-photocells.

The Poles are finished in RAL 9006 grey and with both single and twin brackets mounted on top. In some locations (including the area shown in the photo), there is also an Origin street lighting Luminaire at 5m on the back of the Pole for Footpath illumination.

The scheme has received favourable feedback for enhancing the appearance of the City.

At Enniscorthy Park, LED Area Lighting has been installed to illuminate the Pathways and the surrounding areas. This will allow nightime use for local residents.

The advantages of LED Lighting are the energy saving, low glare, good quality white light and the virtual elimination of maintenance. The Luminaire is the LED Optra Series which combines efficient LED optics with robust construction and architectural appearance.

The Luminaire has also been installed at the Mater Hospital. The larger version has been installed at recent Projects including Dublin Airport, Maynooth University and the new Motorway (M1 & M4) service stations.

Wooden Poles are an attractive option to standard street or area lighting Poles. Projects near Picnic sites, Lakesides or Forest areas can all be enhanced by the use of decorative wooden Poles to compliment the local environment. Wooden Bollards (illuminated Bollards) or wooden furniture can all be supplied to match.

The lighting at Lough Key Forest Park is typical. This public Parkland area is popular for its forrest walks, kids playground, the adventure centre, the nearby lake and islands, the heritage centre, restaurant and shop. The Wooden Poles used along the Roadway and the Pedestrian pathways are decorative, yet natural and compliment the adjoining Forest area as well as the Restaurant Building (not shown) which is also made from wood, the wooden Playground and all the wooden furniture and signage.

Wooden Poles and Bollards can be supplied at various heights and in round, square, conival or other shapes as well as in a variety of different finishes. Maintenance and repair is relatively simple and occurs after long periods. The Products are suitable for coastal locations and have been installed on the Irish west coast beaches.

In urban areas, they can be used as a decorative feature to compliment Buildings which have some wooden construction. They are also popular in Visitor parking areas in corporate Headquarter type Buildings, or along riverfronts, upmarket retail stores, etc.

Use of Wooden Products also has a significant positive effect on carbon emissions in comparison with Metal Products.

LED Recessed Ground lighting was used to illuminate the Walls of the Trim Castle Castle Hotel in County Meath.

LED Floodlighting has the advantages of low power consumption, long life maintenance, small size and low heat from the Luminaires (which prevents burn accidents if children or animals touch the lens). The LED Floodlights above have a Spot beam pattern with a range of approx 5m. For the above Project, the power consumption is only 3 watts per Luminaire, so the annual running costs are approx €9 / £8 per year. The fittings are located next to the Wall so there is no risk of people slipping on the small glass lens and there is no glare to those passing by.

Light.ie also supply LED pathmarkers, LED Bollards, LED Floodlights, LED Streetlights, LED Car park lighting and many other applications.

The Car park lighting and the entrance road lighting at the 3 new M1 and M4 Service Stations was provided using high performance Optra car park lights and R series street lights.

These are the first dedicated motorway service stations to open in Ireland. The locations are Lusk, Enfield and Castlebellingham. The adjoining carpark areas are large and the fitting was chosen as the most suitable luminaire for these projects. This was mainly because of its wide spacings, high performance and flat glass cut-off to avoid glare or light spill.
