Swimming Pool Lighting

The swimming pool lighting for the University of Limerick uses high performance, heavy duty robust High Bay lighting. Specified by Arups Engineers, the Olympic size swimming pool is part of UL’s extensive sports facilities and high light levels and high uniformity was required.

This swimming pool lighting had to be located so they can be accessed for relamping easily.  The outer rows can be accessed from the sides and the central rows can be accessed from the overhead gangway. The same luminaires are used for the large adjoining sports hall lighting project which includes basketball and tennis courts, a sprint track and a jogging track.

The High Bay lighting used is very robust with IP65 sealing and lamps up to 1000w Metal Halide (MH). An LED option is now also available. It is widely used in industrial and warehouse applications, power stations, etc.  A special recessed version is used in the 80,000 seater Croke Park Stadium for the stand illumination.

Because of their superior low glare illumination and flexible design, they can be used in a variety of applications. They are especially suited to areas with high ceiling mounting or tougher industrial environments, such as warehouses, aircraft hangars, power stations, and other high ceiling buildings.
