External Amenity Lighting

The Car park lighting and general external amenity lighting at Dublin Airport has seen significant development over recent years, especially with the extension of Terminal 1 and the opening of the new Terminal 2 in November 2010.

As part of this, the parking for the airport Bus Station area has been upgraded with Supralite Luminaires and the parking area for the Courtesy Bus area (shown in photograph) has been relocated and Optra luminaires have been installed.

The Optra has the advantage of providing high light levels with good uniformity and wide Pole spacings (which minimise clutter and installation costs).  The Optra also has superior glare control and flat glass optics to minimise light spill.  For large area carparks and external amenity areas, the Optra spacing is the best in the Industry, typically only 4 Luminaires needed to illuminate an area of 100m x 100m.  The Luminaire is used widely in external amenity lighting projects such as Ballymena Hospital, Mallow Primary Care, Enfield (M4), Castlebellingham (M1) and Swords (M1) motorway service stations, Westwood Gym, Bunbeg Donegal Playground, Wexford Hospital, etc.

External Amenity Lighting

A mini version is available for LED external amenity lighting and has installed at Shankill Shopping Centre, Bray, Thurles Town Park, Enniscorthy Town Park, etc.

Also around the airport, the Street lighting has recently been upgraded with Origin street light Luminaires specified by Arup Engineers and one of the large Hangars has recently been refurbished with IL Series HighBays. Most of the Car Park lighting is achieved with VeeLite Supralite Luminaires which has similar performance to the Optra.
